Problem-Based Learning:
A PRACTICAL GUIDE for EDUCATORS
PBL has been defined as “active learning” stimulated by, and focused round a clinical, community or scientific problem. The key notion is that learning commences as a problem, query or question that the learner seeks to solve. Herein lays the power of PBL because the learner is required to solve a specific problem whilst acquiring knowledge on how to solve similar problems.
This one-half day workshop will expose participants to basic principles of PBL, developing effective PBL triggers, becoming effective PBL tutor and the best practices in PBL. This workshop will engage participants with PBL process through a planned interactive session so that they obtain the best hands-on experience of PBL. At the end of this workshop, participants are able to use or adapt PBL as a teaching method.
